In theory there are 48 hours in a weekend to treat yourself and to relax. In reality, that’s not always the case but hey, there’s plenty of time to recharge your batteries for the new week and to prioritise your mind and body. To be able to really let go of everything, it’s best if you plan in a fun activity in advance. In this blog post we’ll share our 5 ideas how you can relax and enjoy your weekend.
Try out yoga
Yoga is a real sport. Don't underestimate what an hour on a mat can do to your body. Practicing yoga regularly makes you more lean and flexible. It also gives your mental health a strong boost because you mainly focus on your breathing (just like with meditation), so your mind gets a nice, well-deserved break.
Are you already an avid yogi? Try out another form of yoga and be surprised: from hot yoga to bikram yoga, vinyasa or yoga nidra, plenty of choice!
Create your private wellness at home and enjoy a warm bath
A warm bath is the ultimate relaxation for many. No cell phone, no laundry basket smiling at you, no screaming kids (hopefully), no social media notifications… You don’t have to spend hours in the bathtub. Just 10 minutes soaking, not thinking about anything and enjoying the warm water can be a godsend.
Go out for a hike in nature
Being outside in nature, hiking and getting a breath of fresh air is a must to boost your mental wellness. Go to a forest in your neighborhood, a lake, a river or perhaps the ocean nearby or discover a national park. Walking in nature has several benefits for your body and mental health:
- Spending 2 hours a week in nature will boost your overall quality of life.
- You’ll feel more in balance.
- You breathe in fresh air.
- The children can also enjoy themselves and run around.
- It’s completely free!
- If you live in a busy environment or are always on the go, you’ll enjoy the silence and peace when you’re fully surrounded by mother nature.
Cook, bake & bon appétit
The weekend is the perfect time to try out that new recipe that has been on your Pinterest board for a while or that you received from your colleague months ago. A fancy three-course menu or a delicious dessert: the choices are endless. Choose something which will be perfect for the time you have available and don’t push your boundaries. The point is to have fun and relax!
Banish everyone from the kitchen and enjoy your moment. Trying out a new recipe is good for your mind because you need all your focus to learn something or to bring it to a good end - and hence no time to think of something else!
In addition, the satisfaction of cooking up something delicious and being able to enjoy it afterwards - perhaps even seeing others enjoy your cooking/baking - gives a very rewarding feeling. Bon appétit!

We bet you have a book somewhere you've been wanting to read for a while. Take it out of the bookcase, wipe off the dust and put the book on your bedside table or coffee table. No more excuses.
